If we talk about the “good helper” of diesel engines, it must be diesel engine oil. Unlike gasoline engine oil, diesel engine oil has to deal with problems such as the engine running at high speed for a longer time, more complex road conditions, and heavy loads. Do you really understand such an important diesel engine oil?

-
The engine oil that was changed not long ago has turned black. Could it be that I bought a fake?
It is believed that many careful drivers have noticed that the engine oil they just changed not long ago turns from “clean on the dipstick when added to dirty when checked” within a couple of days, and thus they think they have bought counterfeit products.
However, diesel vehicles often travel long distances and operate in rather unstable driving environments, so their engine oil tends to turn black more easily compared to gasoline engine oil. The dispersants in the engine oil can also prevent sludge and soot from settling in the oil, thereby ensuring the engine’s performance. The darkening of newly changed engine oil may be due to the oil’s cleaning and dispersing effect on sludge and carbon deposits. Therefore, the change in the color of the oil cannot be used as a basis for judging the quality of the oil.
- Whenever the oil is changed and there is low oil pressure or the engine red light comes on, the driver’s first reaction is that there is a problem with the quality of the oil. However, for low oil pressure, you must first check whether you have chosen oil with the appropriate viscosity and quality grade within the range recommended in the vehicle manual. To ensure the quality of the oil and safety in oil use, you must choose regular purchasing channels. If the oil is suitable for your car but the oil pressure is still abnormal, then you need to check for mechanical faults in the engine.
2.Is adding oil without changing it a good way to save trouble and money?
Although diesel vehicles run on “coarse grain” (referring to diesel fuel), they perform delicate work. After a long journey, some drivers choose to top up the engine oil instead of replacing it. However, this seemingly time-saving and labor-saving approach is not advisable.
